About

About kolko7

kolko7 tells you when it is time to swap between summer and winter tyres for one specific place, instead of repeating a calendar rule that is wrong for half the country. It looks at the last days of weather at your location and altitude, the forecast, and the rules of the country or region you are in, and gives one answer: not yet, soon, or now. If you want, it watches a place for you and tells you by e-mail or push notification when that answer changes.

The name

Kółko is Polish for “little wheel”; written without the accent it reads the same in every language we work in. The 7 is the 7 °C rule: the temperature below which summer tyres lose grip and winter compounds start to work — the number most of Europe’s tyre advice is built on, and the threshold at the centre of our method.

What it is not

kolko7 is not legal advice. Country rules are kept as data with their sources and are shown as “not yet verified” until we have checked them; the law that applies is the one of the road you are on. The weather is a forecast, with the uncertainty that implies.
